    I believe this is a WWI American Flag 48 Star lapel pin but may be WWII. It is made of a light metal with enamel paint. The pin back is nearly like a safety pin. It is in excellent condition and beautiful.

      Not terribly old. There's a lot of reproductions of these out there. Found one here for $2.99. It was the nation's flag from 1912-1959 (with the addition of Alaska in January 1949 we went to 49 stars, then 50 in August with the addition of Hawaii.
