This silver brass cup -which I think was probably used as a cigarette holder/jar- is one of the classic designs of Josef Hoffmann for the Wiener Werkstätte in the early 1920s . It's got an lobulated oval shaped base and has the traditional grooved surface of his items from this period.
It stands 7,2 cm. tall and is stamped with “WIENER WERKSTÄTTE” on the underside (pic.3)
On pic.4 you can see two similar ones standing 6,2 and 7,1 cm. tall. The pic was taken from the catalogue of a famous auction house.
stunning!!!!

PARIS: thanks for the MAK link. Carlos knows the archive well (and loves it). We haven't found the same item but others pretty simmilar to it in style.
It's funny how much of the Viennese artists from the turn of the century were actually Czech or of Czech ancestry. In fact, while visiting Prague last summer we found such extraordinary art there!!!
Simple design, yet supremely elegant!
