I have what I believe to be the frame of a Ladies' Parasol, but perhaps it is an umbrella for a child instead. With that being said it the stick measures 25 1/2 " from tip of the ferrule to the bottom 0f the handle. The 8 outer ribs measure 12 3/4", the inner ribs measure 5" - all the ribs are metal. The spoke tips are small round beaded tips. The diameter of the parasol measures 25".
The stick is black lacquered wood and it has a floral design at the base of the handle and about 3/4 of the way up. It has a silver colored ferrule tip, spring collar, metal collar, end cap with a ring on it and a black metal sleeve which slides to open and close the parasol. Alas this one had no cover when I got it.
I am hoping someone can tell me if it is indeed a Parasol for a woman or a child and a time period - pre or post 1900.
very beautiful!!!
