The Man-U-Troll is a hand cranked trolling motor that was operated by cranking the hand rod up and down repeatedly to rotate the propeller in order to traverse across a lake, pond, or river. It was an alternative to an outboard or rowing with oars. This model is one of several hand cranked trolling motors that were on the market. The secret is in the large and highly pitched propeller which could move a lot of water, if only at a slow pace. I never used it as of yet, but my grandson Greg wants to apply it to his kayak. Maybe next summer we'll give it a try.
I have seen a Man-U-Troll demonstrated on U-tube and with little effort and slow pumping of the handle, a canoe traversed effortlessly across a lake and even left a small wake in it's path.
Manufactured by The Universal Projects Co. of Jacksonville, Fla.
    It was from the 1930's.

Hi Vintageangels, I did hear that the Man-U-Trol was made in Georgia. I believe that they made them there at a later date than in Florida ....

Hi surfdub66, Thanks for the nice comment. I saw one being used on U-Tube. It was traversing across a pond or lake on a canoe. It seemed to do quite well, as a mater of fact, it made a small wake in the water as it traveled. It looked as fast as if by paddling with oars.

I have heard they were made in Georgia first but not sure . The one I have seen from Jacksonville has a name plate and the one I have does not ,,The Lithia Springs Georgia is actual embossed in the metal and has a serial # 6243 . Wish I could find out which came first . I am looking to sell the one I have and want as much info that I can get on it . Thanks for the response.
