This was something we inherited and really have no idea of the age or history or even where/when it might have been created from. It might be Japanese, maybe not. We're sharing to see if anyone recognizes this type of vase and could share a little information - having that kind of info always makes an art piece more interesting.
The photos aren't stunning, but at least shows the basics. Every gold dot and much of the outline details are raised materials above/over the painted work. We're 90% sure it's porcelain. I was unable to photograph the bottom as someone glued felt onto it. If it appears to be anything of historic value maybe the felt can be removed to restore it.
EDIT: I've managed to pull the felt back to see the bottom - a photo of it is here now (not sure of the correct orientation)

Thanks - let me see if there's a way to somehow gently steam off the felt glued on the bottom without damaging anything.

Thanks - Yes I think #28 is the one - the estimated date is probably about right as well.
