    This post is actually some kind of a preview, as I'm sharing today one of the new items purchased for our new studio. This sconce was made by the Dutch lamp brand RAAK I guess in the 1960s. I know nothing about who could design them, so if there's any Raak specialist here I'd we so thankful if I can get some info on the subject.

    We were lucky to find five of them, two in a small shop in Bilbao and three in one of our favourite antique shops in El Rastro, in Madrid, so you can see three of them in the studio and the other two in the storage/dressing room -not a dressing room like the fancy ones one can find in magazines, just a small room linking the corridor and the bedroom/library where there's a space reserved for storing paintings plus two Ikea PAX wardrobes and my old oak “art nouveau-ish” armoire- ).

    We've still got room for one more wall lamp in the library/living room... not sure what will be done about it... maybe another similar Raak sconce if we find it? A crazy Art Nouveau lamp perhaps? We'll just let it happen”. Whenever we think we've run into the right lamp we'll know it.

    The place is still quite empty. As a matter of fact I think the works will be fully completed next Monday!!!

    2 days later...

    Thanks to Solver's help I'can now say these sconces are the OCTAVO model by Raak. The lamp (model C-1542 in Raak's production) was designed in the late 1970s and in 1980 it got the iF product design award in Germany. It has no known designer, but was designed by Raak's creative team.

      austrohungaro, I love, love your wall lights, and every item you show.

      It is the C-1542 Octavo-Wandlechte designed by the Raak design-team. It was recognized with the iF product design award in 1980. Actually, the iF website shows the light turned 180 degrees so the light is directed down. There are no rules so if you want the light directed up, so be it. :-)

      Raak Lichtarchitektur (Raak Lighting), Amsterdam, Holland, was popular in the 1970s and is no longer in business. Some of their designers included Ad van Beilo, Cesare Casati, E. Ponzio, Giotto Stoppino, Paul Driessen, Sergio Asti, Evert Jelle Jelles, Frank Ligtelijn, Maija Liisa Komulainen, Bertrand Balas, Nancy Sill, and Hermain Sneyders de Vogel.

      wow, Solver, thanks so so very much for your help!!!

      The name OCTAVO makes all the sense. In Spanish, and "octavo" is an eight part of anything, and each one of the pieces shaping this sconce are actually an eigth part of a sphere :)

      As for the last link, the lamps are not fiberglass at all, simply plastic (a polycarbonate I guess).
