Now THAT's what I'm talking about ! I Googled Monrona Excello and ALL 10 replies were on Collectors Weekly ! So go to the "radio" category, scroll through and pick the appropiate articles. Next look in the Hall of Fame. You are there.
Is there a model number on it. Monrona made several models in the 1920's, however I could find no "excello." There are two 2 dial models listed at radiomuseum.org. One is a VI (6) and the other is a 300. Hope this helps
During the 1920s it was common practice to install a radio chassis of one manufacturer into the cabinet of another manufacturer. I believe that is the case your Monrona (Monroe Radio Mfg. Co., Telephone Bldg., Monroe, Michigan). Excello Products Corp. (4826 W. 16 St., Chicago Illinois) designed and marketed aftermarket radio cabinets which were designed so that just about any brand name or homebrew radio could be installed in it. So your Monrona may or may not have originally been purchased with it's own cabinet but apparently it's original owner decided that the Monrona looked better in an Excello cabinet.
