As The Great War marks its centennial, I thought that this would be a fine memento of that era. All that I can determine about this is that Altenberg is near Leipzig. Also, someone had told me that this pictures a group of airmen. If anyone could help with details on this, it would be much appreciated.
Sadly, the determination and optimism exuded by this photo is tempered by the German writing on the reverse indicating that one of those pictured lost his life in battle, and that he was loved & will always be remembered.
Und laß uns Alte Kameraden sein…...

Infantry Regiment 153
Altenburg
During World War I, Altenburg–Nobitz was mainly used as a production centre for German military aircraft, with Albatros, DFW, Rumpler and Fokker types all being assembled there. A military flying school was also located on the airfield.

Good afternoon, Sean…..thanks for the love!
The only other info I could find, (it's all German records), was they were mobilized in the 1916 Battle of Somme - maybe that's where the one individual lost his life?
They are so young. Thanks for showing this.
Aghcollect…thanks again…..i'll find that card, and maybe the back of it has more info….
Thank you Racer4four. They do look young. Looking at photos from all of the wars, all of the fighters look so young…and all of the leaders look so old….
