    I also were given this vase. I believed it to be Chinese until it resembled some Japanese ware I came across (Kyoto Satsuma?) mainly a creamy/off brown colour with black, red and gold details. Looks hand painted with a raised texture feel. Looks like two males with fans on the vase with 2 raised details on the side. The base bears a 3 character mark. Would like to know the design and creator.

      knot design with two ends is always japanese and it is a collar vase kyoto, late meijji probably or early taisho
