Travelling Salesman Demo Suitcase?

This suitcase is a mystery to me. I purchased it for $5 at a yard sale that was a clean-out of all the junk a local salvage company had acquired over the years - so I have no information or history about it as a result.

It's a very solid leather case with an interesting mosaic of stains and soiling accumulated over the years. With the exception of a few stains no doubt caused by spillage, the interior is almost pristine. The lower part has pockets and straps for all manner of things. Demo bottles of potions and beauty products? Or just a well-organized suitcase for the travelling well-groomed lady? The top part looks like it has custom-formed spaces to hold a hand mirror, hairbrushes, combs, and maybe even a little pouch for nail files?

I need some help with this one people!
