Here is an 1860's 5 brass band, slatted Jenny Lind trunk. It has the original buttons, lock cover, and rarely seen brass handle caps with the UNION name on them.

Is the interior of this trunk wallpaper or fabric? If it is fabric what kind of adhesive did you use? This really is a sharp looking trunk, I keep coming back to it hoping to get an idea how to proceed with mine.
FatBoy64, the inside is lined with fabric. I use a heavy upholstery fabric, as this is more forgiving. I also use a white Elmer's glue to attach it. If you put the glue in a Tupperware container, then add a little water, it makes it easier to apply. If you contact me I will be happy to answer any questions to help you with your project.
