My wife obtained this beautiful chair and was told that they called them Gossip chairs? Does anyone know if this is right? Who made them? and from what era they came? or anything else you might know about them. Would love to get some information on this. Thanks

I'm thinking that we had one like this for a telephone chair, back when you only had hard wired phones that weighed 5 or 6 lbs and a 'party' line..............

Aren't gossip chairs two chairs attached? It looks similar to the chair/table my grandparents had next to their house phone when I was growing up. It's gorgeous whatever it's original purpose was...

Yes they were made for the phone and not a lot of them are "real." They were especially reproduced during the late 1980's and into the 1990's which this one is also.
