I was rehearsing with the Charleston Symphony in the fall of 1978.
It was my first year teaching and I was playing a newly made violin made by James McGauey from Cary NC. A lady dressed in shabby clothes approached me and asked if she could sketch me during the rehearsal. I said sure and didn't think any more about it.
The following week, a friend of mine asked me if I had seen my picture in Fouche Bolton's Art Studio Window.
I found the studio in downtown Charleston and was so surprised at the beautiful rendering. Ms. Fouche was most gracious and sold it to me. I have treasured it all these years and finally had it professionally mounted and framed. It is currently displayed in my home.
