It's been raining heavily on the west coast so I thought it might be a good time to gather together and post the fleet of wooden model sailing ships in my collection.
These are all yard sale finds and most are in need of some repair (broken masts and tangled rigging). They're all made of wood, have cloth sails, and dust-attracting thread/string rigging. I'm not sure how accurate their details and modelling are with respect to the name plaques on their stands but they're nice to look at.
The large one at the back in the group photo is the U.S.S. Valiant (25" long x 23" tall), and the individual photos show the Mayflower (5.75" long x 5.5" tall), H.M.S. Bounty (10.5" long x 10.75" tall), and the Red Jacket (17" long x 12" tall - this one has permanently weathered varnished sails, it's not dirt... promise!). I threw in a cute little sailboat (8" long x 8.5" tall) as well, just because.
I like these a lot great to see them weathering the storm.
Sunny and warm here now on the west coast with an extended respite from the storms - but the ships are all safe in port, up on display shelves where the wind and high seas blew 'em!
