Another very nice piece of Loetz from Andy's collection. From 1898, Loetz Production Number I-7646 in what appears to be Diana Ciselé decor with enamel decoration. I have not seen many others with such an elongated pull at the top:
We collectors think more about decors than about shapes. Ciselé was one of the decors I was never really after, passing dozens on eBay and in the auctions, but now I have two. The first one convinced me with its lavender color (posted previously) and this one with its shape. It is over 11'' tall and I wonder how many of these survived in any decor. This long, fragile point had to survive two world wars and hundreds of frantic house cleanings. I am aware of this responsibility and I'll do my best to see that the vase survives my ownership as well. For years favoring geometric shapes and no decoration, lately I have developed an understanding and affinity for both. This part of production is also an important aspect of Loetz history.
Merry Christmas to all fellow-collectors and dealers who help us build up our collections.
