I have mentioned before Joetsu Crystal, the company responsible for the Kurata brand and now producing from the Tsukiyono Vidro Park.
Vidro is Romaji for glass, and the word comes from the early Portuguese glass makers in Japan.
At Tsukiyono Vidro Park, Joetsu make a whole range of products, including glass kitchen products, drinking glasses and decanters, as well as a range of hand made blown works.
I have developed a real appreciation for the skills of the artists at Joetsu, and I am fortunate to now own some pretty awesome glass from there, mostly from the 60s-80s.
This piece however is contemporary, and I don't think anyone could dispute the skills used in making this piece.
Blown at Tsukiyono with very fine filigrana, a beautiful shape, and finished with some delicate and beautifully Japanese handles.
Unfortunately, I am not sure which of the current artists at Tsukiyono made this.
This vase was not in my usual Japanese glass price range, but I think I got an absolute bargain nevertheless!
