Andy asked me to post this one for him, the latest addition to his growing collection. The photos were taken with a cell phone, and are a bit out of focus, but you get the idea:
You might remember an old Woody Allen movie in which there is a quiz called "What's Your Perversion?" Mine is to hunt for exceptional examples of non-Loetz glass, because they are rare, very specific and still affordable within the range of what my profession can earn.
As a follow-up on Warren's and Volkmar's posts on the Schliersee Glass Factory, I am posting this vase from their Aspasia line. It is over 10'' tall, has a pontil and a fire-polished rim. It also features a very interesting, pure Art Nouveau pewter mount that fits its bicolor appearance (orange on the inside, brownish-red from the outside) very well.
Good Morning David!! what a stunning vase !!!
Hi Sean, good morning to you also. Yes, it is a nice one. I was fortunate enough to have it in my possession for a few days before having to send it off to Croatia.
This is fantastic
MEGA WOW!!!!
What a fantastic mount!
Wonderful piece! Our Koi are hiding this time of winter.
your very lucky to it in your possession for a few days !! lucky you :)
My fish are also under the ice for the winter, though I have a heater to keep it open for oxygen exchange, much-needed in these crazy low temperatures. Supposed to go down to -10 F tonight. Ugh. I'll just stay inside and look at the glass.
I don't blame ya David!!! check out our weather currently...

Most of our fish down here are straight off the barbie and on to the plate ! But I'd swap a couple for this one any day!
Dress warm !! stay inside ! -15 ouch my bones hurt just thinking about it !
I've been collecting art glass for a number of years. That is better than most of mine and a rare find. My Koi are also in hibernate mode. Wish I could join them! Not a winter fan here...
Cool piece love the fish!
