I don't know much about this piece other than it appears to be old. I found it in a consignment shop in New Hampshire...proprietor didn't have any info on piece. Its hard to tell from picture but it has faded green & red paint. I love the flowers on the front doors. Curious as to whether it is handcarved?!

I also love the carving but at first was trying to work out if it was a chair or cupboard I would say a chair

I guess I need to take a better picture as its an armoire not a chair :-)

Pictures aren't great but I don't think slats would be terribly uncommon on the bottom or back. If you research it search it as a dome top Armoire. Pinning it down may not be easy and most of what you find will probably be French made when it comes to older stuff. Quite possibly found it's way to New Hampshire from Canada. Lots of French Canadians migrated to New Hampshire.

blunderbuss2 as I said it was most probably me as have been having pretty bad migraines for awhile & have to have a MRI that's why I said it was most probably me so you were spot on with that. Have a great day

Fhrjr2 Thank you for the info...I've looked at 100's of pics glad to learn of the term "top dome".
