A few pics of a 1960s crewcab vw splitscreen truck. Imported from South America, was used as a animal rescue truck in deep forest. These vehicles have gained an even bigger following over the last 10 years with prices and scarcity increasing daily. Full resto being undertaken, also completing resto on 1967 splitscreen camper (yes I am mad!!!). This truck has been patched, welded and plated so we had to strip it back to chassis almost and start again retaining as many OG parts as possible and using parts from VW heritage.
Vee dub fever has struck again !!!
I love the old splitty dubs , its a labour of love & coolness!!
Please post at different stages of its progression, your so lucky to have 2 !!
Thanks surfdub66 I will post more as they progress and will post pics of bus too... agree about labour of love. These old buses are 50 years old so the amount of work involved can consume you if you let it.
And it will consume you !!!
You just gotta have fun doing it :-)
I really would love one but im afraid ill have to stick with my T5....

Don't feel bad I am restoring a 1968 Camaro, 1963 Impala and just started another project a 1976 F-100 I'm transforming into a full custom convertable pro touring roadster:)
Wow Trey and I thought I had a lot on!! How about some pics they some awesome cars you got there..
surfdub66 - it has consumed me, dark long nights surfing the net for parts and info, getting 'perfect-fit' parts to fit etc as I'm not a pro but can do work with work partner. You are right about fun (tho a few tools have gone flying and many swear -words), otherwise it would become a nightmare. Also being able to down tools and walk away is a good method for not getting frustrated or to clear your head...

Love this! Even looking at tit as it is, it brings back memories of summer days, ditching school (yes I did) and taking off to go surfing right next to where Nixon's house was on the coastline!
shareurpassion - thanks for ur comments I've just taken her to get shot-blasted and will post more photos asap. Your way of life sounds fantastic, life should be dynamic and well-lived!! Never been surfing but it truly seems great..
