Of course, 1378 was the next vase series Tamara aladin designed after the 1377 vases (although I guess she whould work on them at the same time). In this case, the series looks different and follow a different formula than the previous one: whereas in 1377 Aladin designs variations on a same shape using both different proportions and sizes, in 1378 she simply works on size variations. These two formulas she would thorougly use since this moment and the closure of the Riihimáki workshops in 1976. In her next series (the 1963 1392/1441 series - from which I've got boththe 16 and 22 cm. tall versions - she worked with two different shapes and size variations, something she will keep on doing until she designs the Kleopatra series (1969) and from this moment on she will basically work on series with shape variations, like she did in Carmen, Tornado, Tuulikki and Tulppaani.

I have seen them in a full range of different colours, and I specially rcall an amazing cobalt blue one I really should have urchased when I saw it as it was the bigger size.

If you compare the original picture of the series and my vases, you can appreciate that the shape of the big vase is just the same, but mine, in green, is not cased glass as the other two are. Then, on the picture, I'm not too sure the big one is made using the same technique or not... I think it looks like the clear glass part of it is thinner... that's the main reason why I think I should have bought that blue one.

      Another fantastic set Austro!
Your uncased green is interesting and beautiful in it's own right. I used to have a number of uncased Riihimaki vases that struck me as different and I like that!

Thanks SeSEAN, MANI and KAREN for your kind comments!

I have seen some Riihimäki designs made in both cased and uncased glass so I wonder if they ever made some editions in a different technique. I know it sounds weird but it's the only explanation for this green vase, as the shape truly fits with that on the catalogue picture.

KEV, KAREN, CORMORAN, AGH, HO2CULTCHA, JEWELS, MANI & GRACAY: thank you all for your love!!!!

They have a (seemingly) simple form. But you don't see them so often. Tamara Aladin has the most beautiful name of all glass designers! And she did some amazing designs.

Thanks for your love COBALT, AMBER, MIKE and ELISABETHAN!!!

So true, Cobalt! I always wonder if Aladin is her real name. Looking at her pictures she seems to have a much darker complexion than that of "the normal Finn"... I always thought she must have some Arabic origin :)
