I've been asked some questions about my H. C. Faber "Rawhide" trunk so here are some more pictures. The black paper label only mentions Utica. The bottom sows the oak supports and the painted canvas body. The brass handle brackets are clearer in this picture. The divided tray has the muslin exterior and a stiff thin cloth interior (could be the glue). The picture of the back gives you a better idea of the 1887 hinges.

Thank you Tahoetrunk for taking the extra time and reposting more pictures,Especially the label. I had not seen those back hinges before on a H.C. Faber. I will post mine in the next few days as I'm almost completed. It is a large beast that traveled a lot and was repaired(unfortunately) with parts not by Faber, at some point in it's life.

Nice Faber trunk. By the way, the interior lining is linen, which was used on many good quality trunks of the mid 1800's to the early 1900's. It was considered the best lining and was often imported from Europe. If it's in good condition I highly recommend leaving it intact and not coating it with any finish. I love the rawhide bound trunks and I also have one of these Faber trunks for my collection but haven't finished it yet. Thanks, Marvin ThisOldTrunk.com
