One of many in the 1950's to 1960's era of men's jewelry I have. For quite a few years I bought 10 & 14k & 18k rings of all shapes and sizes. Everyone knew that if they had a ring to sell, Kerry would buy it. So I was actually a "one man pawnshop" for several years back in the day. I'm really glad I was on a tear doing this for quite some time. Maybe it will pay off in the future. When I would buy a ring with a certain type stone, this one being an emerald, I would then seek out other stones in rings of "like kind". At one point I had 4 rings very similar to this one. Just a gold ring with a big square or rectangle green stone embedded. Then starting about a year ago I listed a couple hundred rings in my store on eBay. What I found was that men were buying these larger than normal rings with large stones more than any other type ring. And of those, the green emeralds were the most popular. This is my last one like it and one I may keep because of that fact.

Your emerald is absolutely beautiful even if it is synthetic, I am partial to square stones,what do you call this cut? I have found several things that I love today,thank you for posting this one.I also love your Mothers root beer rhinestone earrings listed in costume jewelry.
I thought I would er on the side of caution when calling this old ring "synthetic". I'm really unsure if it is or not. When I won this at auction, I got the ring for a "synthetic price" but there were no true jewelers there (including myself lol) I am also unsure of what this cut is called. Maybe a knowledgeable viewer will clue us both in on that point. I went to the bank this last week and was looking over some of my rings. There are so many old vintage rings with opals, garnets, sapphires and some with coins that I thought I would post a few. I don't want to inundate the site with several dozen+ rings so now I'm looking at several to see which ones would look the best here. I have found that more times than not, most vintage men's rings with stones are more times than not, 10k rather than 14k. I'm unsure of the reason for that but maybe it had to do with the "durability" factor as 10 k is not near as soft as 14 or 18k. But thank you for looking and thank you for the compliments/comments on not only this ring but my mothers earrings as well. Could you help me out a little?? Which ones are the "root-beer rhinestone" earrings. I'm kinda dumb (not kinda, but real dumb) when it comes to ladies jewelry items. I am a quick learner however...
Hi bahamaboy,I am no expert but I know a little about gold being a dental lab tech,although we just make jewelry for the mouth.You were correct about the 10k,it is much harder than 14 and 18k and less likely to bend.
As for the root beer stones,they are the large oval brown rhinestone earrings which were called root beer back in the day but they are probably called amber now although they are a bit darker than amber.Please don't quote me on that,like I said I am no expert.
But please do list your other rings,I would love to see them.I have a few rings of my Moms too that I will list when I have time.I really don't have much of the fine jewelry in my collection but my costume jewelry stash is getting out of hand, I am starting to sell it in my artfire studio now because they are promoting the vintage category.Well I probably did not tell you anything of much value but I hope I was a little help on the root beer stones.FYI,I don't think you are dumb at all LOL.you are very knowledgeable about what you collect.

Wow I just listed a few more rings after taking and editing the pics and of course the description and now I look at my lower right portion of my computer screen and I've chewed up better than 5 hours. Oh well, time flies when you're having fun. And I am having fun... But I'm still good for at least a couple three more hours. thanks again to you.
