This was also a piece that was accidentally deleted.
I have two rings that started me on the road to collecting Antique and Vintage Jewellery, this is one of them.
I love Bernard Instone as you probably know, I just think he was a great jewellery designer and maker.
This to me, is special, because it's not very often he signed his full name on his jewellery. I know it is one of his earlier pieces because I sent a photo to assays office in Birmingham were Bernard Instone had his work assayed.
The person who I spoke to at the assays office told me he thought It was a commissioned piece, this is not Mr Instones Usual type of work.
Bernard Instone was a very charismatic person, he lived life to the full.

where do you get these beautiful things?
Hi lauriecat, I've been collecting for about ten years. I live in Spain, we don't have thrift shops, so most of my things come from eBay. Sometimes when I'm back in England I look though the charity shops, I've never found anything, I suppose you would have to go in every day to spot things, I'm only in England for about 2 weeks at a time, there is a second hand jewellery shop I do go and have a browse, I have bought some nice pieces from there.Thank you for passing by, and the love.

Hi BelleChambers, Yes I'm sitting outside but instead of Sangria, it's beer, lol. Yes please send the photos, we have a few people on this site who will certainly be able to help, if I can't, Jewels1900 certainly has a very good knowledge of Bernard Instone, and I'm sure one or two others. Hi Jean, Yes I would say this is a White Cliffs stone because of the blues and pinks, from the same period as our big Deco doublet brooch that was made into a pendant, ie 1930's.
This a cracking ring, and wonderful to see with the full signature, and with all those diamonds no doubt it would've been a special commission for someone, it would've been an expensive piece in its day.
Thanks Paul for your help, it does lead me to believe it was one of his earlier pieces.
If only I knew from which time period this ring was from. I've been told it's a later Instone piece, also that its a earlier piece. Oh well it's still a mystery. Looking at my other Instone rings, they are more or less his earlier work, but this one I'm sure was a commission piece, I haven't seen anything like it in any of his other work, frustrating is not the word. Did he design it, make it, or was it his sons, I doubt somehow it was his sons.
