I repurposed this metal covered flat top trunk for a friend. As you can see, it was a little rusty. I stripped the metal and repainted it. The wood slats also got a refinish. My friend chose the colors. I put a few coats of satin polyurethane over the whole trunk to help protect the finish.
I replaced the dry rotted handles. Stripped out, cleaned and relined the interior. My friend let me choose the pattern for the interior.
My friend and his wife use this as a blanket chest in their daughter's room.
It's not my best work, by far. But, I don't think it came out half bad. I would place this one around 1920 to 1930s.
