This is one of my favorite Art Deco cocktail sets, which was part of a giftware line by the Revere Copper Company in the 1930's. The Machine Age chrome cocktail shaker is called the "Zephyr," and it was designed by William Archibald Welden for the company. It comes with either a red, blue, or chrome spout cap. I'd love to have one with a red spout cap to match the rest of my set, but mine is just the basic chrome.
The satin chrome tray is called the "Cocktail Hour Tray," and it has an incised "Norseman" design. It was designed by Fredrick Press. It has red bakelite or catalin handles that match and compliment the bases of the Welden "Empire" cocktail cups. In a 1937 Revere advertisement, the tray cost $2.50. I love these cocktail cups with their red marbled bakelite/catalin bases!
The tray and cocktail cups are very rare to find these days, and the Zephyr shaker is found now and then. The Empire cups also can be found with butterscotch or blue-green bases, but the red ones are my favorite. What a stylish cocktail set produced during the Great Depression!
stunning!!!!!!
