This is a small bowl and I am wondering what it is and if anyone knows the name of the pattern I only have one and wonder if it was part of a set. Thank you for any input.

I'm curious to know what the two slots on the side are for? Pretty pattern!
It almost seems like an ashtray (makes me feel sick to think of that), could it have been used for that? Hopefully it was a candy dish!
I thought the same, nutsabotas, but the birds would be oddly positioned when hung on display, wouldn't they? Also it is rather bare for a wall display. Curious piece!
Maybe you could put a ribbon through the holes for hanging...is it Austria? What is the rest of the wording? Can you make it out? It is lovely
Beautiful... I love the birds flying.
Isn’t the pattern name Blue bird? It looks like a bonbon or nut dish
If your mark says Victoria Austria in the circle, then it was made by Schmidt & Co between 1904-18. I couldn’t find much on the history of the company, but it appears that later pieces were made in Czechoslovakia. The pattern is indeed called Bluebird, and they do have a couple of pieces at replacements.com under the Schmidt name, but not your bowl.
Thank you all for your comments and help identifying the piece. I know my grandmother went on the Grand Tour of Europe around 1905 so she may have purchased the piece then. Or perhaps it was a wedding gift when she married in 1912. She had quite a few small pieces from Europe.
So does the mark say Victoria Austria? It’s blurred, and I couldn’t read it too well
