What can I say.....1970's Toy. I LOVED them. Hopefully this is taking everyone back to their childhood memories.

I found a link on YouTube showing how they were used. There were a few but I liked this one the best.

Oooooooooh, I loved these! Yes, they were taken off the market, then for a while you could get them again, then they disappeared, interesting to hear they may be back again. I never got hurt by them but I can see how it would happen, lol. Thanks for sharing! :)

We in Wales called them Kernockers and cheap ones cause medical issues.

Cheap ones broke and there were many visits to A&E. But I remember the sound to this day.
    19. GeodeJem GeodeJem, 8 years ago
These were popular in Swansea, South Wales UK. As was the twirling pipe that made a noise and of course the Hula Hoop, Pogo stick and I forget what its called but you step on it and jump with it.

The clackers were known locally as ker knockers. Cheap one would explode in pieces.

I had a blue set, I loved them! My mum took them away after she read reports of them chipping and chips flying into people's eyes.
I also had a "footsie", a ring that went round your ankle, attached to a ball on the end of a string. That one resulted in my front tooth being broken when someone stamped on the string, resulting in me falling flat on my face!
How did we all survive these 70s toys??
    21. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Lol Pebble (but sorry for your tooth...)!
We are survivors! Wearing no helmet while cycling, and traveling with smoking parents in car without seat belts or air bags....

Oh WOW, Rose -- fun memories, indeed!! My set was *exactly* like the ones in that YouTube, I think...now I'm wondering whatever happened to them...? Somehow Mom tolerated them (and the noise and potential injury and whatever) but I definitely remember they weren't allowed AT SCHOOL....?? <lol>

Ouch is right! We would make our own out of chestnuts!

I remember these as Ker Bangers, not sure if that was a real name or not. I do remember seeing these at my Grandmothers house in the seventies, and they had belonged to my uncle who was much, much older than I.
