I think this is really beautiful, but there seems to be something not right about the lip of it. too rough or something. is it missing a cup or cap or what? Signed on the bottom: 620 Marqa 8 - symbol - AK Holland. any info appreciated. thanks!
Looks like Gouda Pottery. Look up some marks on google. See if you can find yours. Good luck.
This was made in Gouda by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH). The decor is called 'Marga'. Date is 1923. Probably painted by Johanna Kelder. The 620 is the model number.
You are quite right about 'something missing'. Model 620 should be about 7.5" tall with a slender neck flaring out at the top. This has been broken off at one time. Hope that helps.
thanks Deltawing! i figured it was something like that. it just didn't look right. but it's still very pretty and for $3, why not?
It is really cool. Funny how we just sorta feel that 'something' is just not quite right...
i still think it's beautiful though! the glaze and texture is spectacular!
Very nice!
Maybe there was a chip on the rim and someone ground it down to smooth it out?
probably something like that or maybe someone threw it across the room, breaking the neck of it? just never can know...
A gorgeous piece just as is! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you Budek! i gave it to one of my nieces who likes it as much as i do - just as it is. i always admire when the life of something can be extended by very practical action.
