More lovely than pretty this one!

I have mentioned before Kitaichi glass and the wide variety of styles they produce, but I have to say they make really nice cameo glass (without copying Galle!).

This vase is small at 14cm and very slender.
Made from blue glass cased in a light yellow it has been sand blasted to display what I think is a narcissus and leaves. Simple outcome, complex technique.

***I am often asked where I get my Japanese glass. Australia was a big market for the industry and in fact lots is from here. Most of my more contemporary, designer, or unusual pieces however come from Japan, usually 2nd hand. The glass making business is alive and well there, nearly all for domestic consumption. A vase like this new is about 30000yen (say USD300) and I think for a hand made piece that's OK, it's just out of my budget when I wants lots of pieces!
I can't always find what I want 2nd hand so some big holes remain in my collection, waiting to be filled.
