In general, the 'Made in Japan' stamp starts appearing after WW II.
The Chinese and Japanese both use dragons in decoration. Japanese plate -> Japanese dragon. You can tell because he has three sharp claws on each foot. The Chinese only allowed five clawed dragons for things associated with the emperor. (Of course there are many five-clawed impostors around.) Other Chinese dragons which aren't pretending to be imperial have four claws.
Any idea what the plate would be worth?
You can go to eBay and search for 'japan dragon plate', and sort the listing by price high-to-low. There are plates which are similar (not identical) for less than $10. (And sorry to state the obvious: if an item has no bid then the market deems it's not even worth that price.)
ThAt is what I surmised. Thanks for your help.
