Picked this trunk up at an antique place for $10. I'm trying to find ANY further information on this trunk: manufacturer, model, date, etc. I'm just looking for any other details about it so I can look into restoring it correctly. Any advice is welcome too! Thanks.
Please feel free to request any other details or photos. All help is appreciated. Thanks again.
- Exterior is approx. 32" long, 22" high, and 19" deep.
- Had leather handles. I believe part of the outside was originally canvas or paper. The inside also looks like it was lined with some kind of paper at some point.
- There are also 4 tiny wheels on the bottom.
- The interior has grooves at the top where a tray/drawer type thing once rested, but the tray is missing.
- I cannot find any markings or labels of any kind anywhere on this piece.
Forgot to mention info on a value as is in bad condition, and if it is worth the investment of restoring. I still will fix it up though. I like the piece!
Looks like a nice project Mr Logan. I'm no expert but I'd imagine if there isn't some kind of label or plaque identifying the maker it will remain a mystery. Apparently there were hundreds of people that made trunks way back when so unless it has some kind of unique feature there's no telling who made it. Here are some links that might help out with the restoration.

I am only a 4th rate trunk expert at best. But this a flat top trunk or flattish top, the most valuable seem to be the camel backs which are highly arched. It seems to be a typical trunk and restoring this from this condition would tale a lot of time and possibly money. Does not seem to profitable to restore.
Hi - I posted a similar trunk a few weeks ago that I refinished. Like yours it had the material over the wood and needed to be cleaned up. I have the before and after pictures so you can judge what it will look like. The sites that FatBoy64 provided will provide you a lot of good information on where to start. These make nice additions to bedrooms or any room, they provide visual interest and additional storage. It is worth working on it, I find it fun and gratifying to see how beautiful these can be with some elbow grease and time.
