A pretty glass vase I bought today. Splotched white mostly, with some blue in different shades and tints, and green and a bit of red smears. The color seems to be in one layer, with a clear layer on top. It has ribs from the bottom up to the neck, and a ruffled opening with a lip around the rim. Bottom is polished smooth. Heavy, fairly thick. About 8" tall, 13" around. Any help identifying this glass greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

When I saw this I thought it was more similar to mine than it is...it's in the running now.

share, do you have a similar vase posted on here? I will have to go to your page and take a look.
Okay, new pictures posted of the glass, I think they are clearer. :)
I would say Chinese glass.....by the mat-textured base. Just my opinion
Purty! Imagine this with a little posy.
I'm in agreement with Rose on the maker.

antiquerose and racer4four, I found several of these type vases on eBay, some called themselves Murano end-of-day vases, although I have my doubts. A few just called themselves vintage or art glass vases. One was interesting, it had an Hecho en Mexico label on it. Thanks to the two of you for offering your expert opinions, greatly appreciated!
Here's the closest match to mine, I thought. This person was suggested Murano, but again I have strong doubts:

This one calls itself Murano outright, note it does not show a picture of the bottom of the vase:

And thanks for the compliments, greatly appreciated!
Well I gave the vase away this morning as a gift to my jewelry supplier. I told her I didn't know anything for sure about the vase, but that probably it a nice piece of art glass. She was very taken with it when I showed it to her, so I gave it to her and hope the best. If it does turn out to be Murano, I'll be very happy for her. :)
STUNNING !!!

Yes, it definitely caught my eye! :)
Interesting Katherine! It may be a Mexican vase although they tend to leave a pontil scar or hot finish the base, not grind it. A Murano vase would not be left with a matte base like this.
Generally people throw anything into the Murano pool on Ebay, whether out of ignorance or to try and lure buyers. Quite a lot of glass around today is Chinese, a most of it is well made and really nice. The day will come when it is accepted more widely.
racer4four, thanks so much for the information re Mexican vase base finishes, that's very useful to know. I agree that a lot of sellers on eBay call their glass Murano or Murano style in order to get a better price. I tend to agree with the experts on here when they tell me where a glass item is produced. I've nothing against this being Chinese, as I thought it was very well made, of course the value reflects the quality but a lot of it is bias, too, I think.
