This is a 1937 Rogers Majestic console , model 7R932.
I bought it at an estate sale because I collect and restore antique radios.
The 7 stands for the year it was made, 1937. the R stands for Rogers, and the 9 is the number of tubes it has.
Everything is original, grill cloth , cabinet and knobs.
I replaced all the capacitors and any crumbling wires, cleaned the tone and volume controls and anything else it needed. I also added a phono jack so I can play my MP3 through it
As far as the cabinet is concerned, all I did was clean it with go jo and
give it a coat of Renaissance wax. It is a keeper,,,,,,, enjoy
As a kid in the 50's, I got a Zenith(?) with shortwave & put a headset jack in it so I could listen to classical music from Radio Moscow. Then later got a Hallicrafters 110. Remember when the U.S. complained to the UK about their putting blocking transmitters on Voice of America & Radio Free Europe. The UK response was, "The U.S. broadcast put out more propaganda that the Russians". Don't think the U.S. brought the issue up again! I went to sleep every night listening to great classical music from Radio Moscow. Don't remember any propaganda there, just music.
It's beautiful and everything around it goes with it. Down to the hardwood floor.
Looks great. Please check out the restored Zenith chairside model in my collection.
Nice radio and impressive how you bright it to life again. I have the skills to restore the cosmetics but hope to learn the guts someday.
