9 inch tall stoneware vase with a simple tapered form, enhanced by vertical shavings and a wonderful, subdued flowing thin organic glaze with veining- reminiscent of Japanese works I would say. Circa 1910. Partially obscured signature. Click on photos to enlarge, see better detail.
Henri de Vallombreuse (1856 - 1919) was another member of the Carriès School. His family was described as "victims of the French Revolution". I believe the family fled to Algeria, returning to France over sixty years later in the late 1860's - when Henri was a young boy.
Vallombreuse studied as a painter at the Académic Julian with notable Post-Impressionist painters, including his friend Toulouse Lautrec.
