    Hi,everyone!
This is my newest acquisition, which I was delighted, when I saw it on Czech auction site.I couldn't wait a delivery. When I got it in the end,I had mixed feelings though.
The colours are unusual:red and ..I can't name this shade of reddish, brownish or whatever it is.Perhaps the shade is created by the black ground. The outer layer is transparent. In general it is thick three-layer glass, quite heavy and carefully made. The seller desribed it as old Bohemian from 1920s.
On the other hand this relatively thick layer of transparent glass at the base (visible in 2nd and 3rd pcts)makes me think it's rather contemporary.Besides, the dark tonation varies from typical Bohemian spatter. It is also small :14,5 cm high 3,8 cm base diameter.
All in all I'm confused and will appreciate more experienced collectors' opinions.
Thanks to welzebub I could add 'Welz' to the title.

I am not a big fan of glass but I certainly love this. I would love to try turning one like this on a lathe. Thanks much for sharing it.

I love the "reddish, brownish or whatever" against the black! It's a lovely piece!

As well as thinking it lovely I think it's a Czech Art Deco piece. Page 67 of Truitt II is devoted to glass in these colours mentioning 'brownish-purple'. Shapes very similar to this were also being made in the period. That is, bulbous at the base, handles on the shoulders which then coil up to the rim.

Here is a link to a similar shape from the period.

Thanks Peggy, your comment is very helpful and informative.I'm happy this is Czech Art Deco.I've got "Collectible Bohemian Glass 1880-1940" by Truitt ,just one-volume book from 1995 and it doesn't contain much about the period. Thanks again :-)

I am sorry that I missed this post previously. This is, IMHO, an example of Welz production. I have two different shapes linked solidly to Welz with this decor. More importantly, this specific applied handle style and an extremely similar shape are found in a décor which is unmistakably Welz production. You can find that example posted here:

      sorry... Hit enter by accident.

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/65648-franz-welz-stripes-and-spots

The shape of the neck and the flare at the top are slightly different but the handle style and the lower body of the vase are basically the same.

Thank you, welzebub. for the information! It's important to me because it means I (not being too much experienced) feel somehow Welz's pieces :)
Is this decor named? The colour combination is specific and very attractive.

Lisa, thank you for the comment.I'm truly satisfied with you having good relationship with my compatriots .Canada is a friendly country and many nations have found a place to live there. My mother's cousins emmigrated to Canada in 1930s and after 1945 and their offspring are Canadians now.
I also have Polish friends in Ottawa who I'm in touch .

The décor is not really named, as with many of the Welz décors I have identified. Here is an image which shows one example of the décor on a different shape. I have had this shape in two other confirmed Welz decors.

Indeed, the spatter colour is the same.I bought the vase on a Czech bid site when I new very little about Welz, but it somehow attracted me.
