Well, I know all of my friends on CW are thinking "This guy sure does have a lot of hat trunks". And you'd be correct. I do love these and have several in my collection.
I've had this one for quite some time now. I've been meaning to post it, but I'm just now getting around to it.
It's a gentlemans' hat trunk. A BIG thanks to Jim Cardoza, of hmsantiquetrunks.com, for identifying the maker of this trunk for me.
It was made by Liprosta, of Dresden, Germany. Check out the logo of the stork carrying the trunk. This brass logo tag is on each end of the trunk.
This one is heavily coated canvas covered with leather trim. It has a tremendous amount of high quality heavy brass hardware and copper rivets. That's something you won't normally see on other hat trunks of this style.
It's in pretty fair condition, interior included. There are a couple of straps missing from the interior, which is typical. Other than that, it's in pretty fair condition, for its' age.
This one is not exactly my favorite, but it ranks in the top 10 of my hat trunk collection. I believe this one is from the early 1900's era.
And thanks again to Jim Cardoza, of hmsantiquetrunks.com, for identifying this trunk maker for me.
Thanks for looking!!
Scott
I love it. Great looking!
Thank you Elisabethan!! And thank you for the love as well. Always appreciated!!!
Your welcome :). Have a nice weekend.
Thank you Pat!! One of the great things about these hat trunks is that they're easy to display around the house, since they're small and stackable. Thank you for the love as well. I always appreciate that!!!
Thanks aghcollect for the appreciation!!
That is so cool to see another maker's label the same as mine -- let alone how nice this trunk is. Sorry to say that I have not found the name to this maker -- but I do know that both of these trunks have a lot of great brass hardware so they didn't cheap out when it came to trunk making. Thanks so much for the post and a HUGE kudo for even remembering seeing this logo on my old beater...
trunkman, thanks a million!! Back when I saw the logo on your European trunk, I recognized it right away as the same logo on one of my trunks. It is English and it does have a patent #. But, that's all I've been able to find on this maker. If I'm able to find anything further on this maker, I'll let you know. Thanks again!!!!
Thanks junkcollector for the appreciation!!

Thanks Cindy!! I'm doing quite well, just really busy with my job these days. How's that trunk of yours coming along? I can't wait to see it when your finished.
Thanks Cindy!! I can't wait to see your finished trunk. Got a wedding to attend on Saturday and plenty of yard work for the rest of the weekend!! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend Cindy!
Hi Cindy!! I hope everything is ok. And, I do hope you don't sell your trunk. I've sold quite a few and regretted selling most of them. Can't keep 'em all though. We're moving our boys into their college dorms this weekend. We'll be going thru the "Empty Nest" syndrome for a while. Guess I'll have more time to work on my trunks. And, it's nearly trunk restoration season for me (only work on them during the winter months). My job keeps me far too busy the rest of the year. Looking forward to posting my next one.
