I think this is a beautiful piece! I am not exactly sure what it is, but I think it is a Polhemus Cabinet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you for your response.. I believe the other side is slotted. It is against the wall and hard to see. I believe it looks just like the picture that you posted!

I believe this is for a composing room, where a publication is made up. I do not think it is Polhemus, but I may be wrong. The link Savoychina posted is to catalog info for earlier Hamilton Mfg products, similar to the one you can download from this page: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/about/office
(come to think of it, that page shows men using pretty much the same type of piece as above).
however, I think your example is newer, based on the design and the Hamilton tag. maybe 1930s? 40s?

I believe you are correct about it being a polhemus cabinet and the opposite side probably contains the printer's drawers for the type and the round metal covers on the end were for optional electric overhead lighting plus a square attachment for a electrical support which runs end to end and supports 4 lighting fixtures I believe. (my cabinet is the one shown in Fig. 24 and you can see the lighting arrangement there - a row of 4 metal shades over bulbs screwed into white porcelin retainers) see Fig. 16. and 17 - Compositor's Work Stand—Front Side/ on http://www.gutenberg.org/files/31704/31704-h/31704-h.htm for info from the Guttenburg project. Hope this is correct and helpful.
