This is a amazing pendant, I think the pendant has been carved from a single piece of Tortoise shell. In the middle cabehon the light hits the shell and it sends out a fantastic array of colour, I'm not sure if this pendant is Tortoise shell, I'm only surmising, I would be most greatful if anyone out there could tell me.
On the outer ring of the pendant there are unfortunately rusty cut Steel beads. In its hey day it would have been a stunning usually piece, I'm sure with some TLC it could be bought back to live.

The mount does look like real shell, the center is most likely a glass cab made to look alike shell. If you put your lips lightly on the cab does it feel rather cold?

It is so unusual but as you say Jean the light into the cab from the tortoiseshell is beautiful!
Thanks racer, it was very difficult to catch the light, this was the best of a bad bunch. If it was mine I would love to give it some TLC, it would look wonderful. I can dream, lol.

Many thanks Inky for your comment, it is certainly unusual, I've been looking on ebay for spare cut glass beads, it would be lovely to put it back to its full grandeur.

Sorry Inky in my above comment I mean't to say Cut Steel. Yes I'm going to ask the owner if she will sell it to me, there is something quite stunning about this piece, as soon as I saw it I thought I wanted it, fingers crossed she'll sell.
