I bought a box of random jewelry parts at an auction and this was in it. I dismissed it at first and then started to remember how the early unsigned Miriam Haskell's were hand wired on metal backings pre WW2. Could this be one? I know we have a lot of jewelry experts out there, what do you think? about 1 1/2" diameter.

I think this could be one... Here is a great page for comparison...

DrFluffy is far more expert than I am in the subject, I will tell you that I looked at a site where they carry unsigned MH, and the backs don't match, they used a different thickness, the edges were rounded, and the clasps were different on the ones I saw. However, the front does have a strong resemblance to MH, so might be different materials used in different eras. :)

Katherine, thank you for the compliment... very good point about the back. It's unusual for the ones I ve seen.

Nadia, well-deserved "compliment," your knowledge of jewelry is vast, and expert, and generously offered. :)

cindyjune, one of my favorite links... There is so much info in Morning Glory. I use it all the time. (not related at all). Enjoy and good luck.

Thanks for the info valentino97. I have seen some reference to Czech as well and you verified it. And yes that Morning Glory site is awesome!!!

I believe your brooch is most likely Czech. Haskell never used a pinback such as the one shown in your brooch. I have a number of albums up on Haskell jewelry. Here is one on clip and pin backs, showing both unsigned and signed pieces.

      Hope this helps.
