A few more exquisitely designed cut crystal items from Hoya.
The first is from the late 80s/early 90s, a sculpture of a temple.
Made from one piece of crystal, cast and cut on the back, to give a clear picture of every part of the building.
Even holding this and looking from back to front then back again, it is amazing to see how tiny details on the back refract to give amazing detail and depth from the front.
Height 11cm
The other is a Hoya perfume bottle I have had for a while now and I think this dates to the early 80s.
Cut crystal base and stopper with cutting to the back of the stopper handle to give a clear picture of a pagoda from the front.
Clever aren't they!!
Height 14cm
Clever indeed but also creative and skilful. I think that very little reached the UK, unlike their porcelain/china. I do look though!
The sculptures weren't largely available (expensive) but there is a bit more of their plates and bowls around here. Never as big as Mikasa.
