A pretty plate from Hoya, with cherubs made in their intaglio style.
This is the only plate I have seen from them though that has also been painted with enamel as part of the design.
They possibly did this a bit and I just am not aware of it but for me the combination is unusual.
I like this plate but I'm not so sure the cherubs are their best ever creation.
From certain angles they look a bit.....well, if not feral,.... ugly.
Diameter: 22cm
love it karen!!
lol....you say Ugly Cherubs ? Is there such a thing?
Lol! Thanks :0
They look like middle aged men! Is that good enough? I don't think so!!!
Lol.....perhaps, being cherubs, only their faces age over time:-).....you just shouldn't have pointed it out, Peggy
Probs not Peggy....funny hey!!
They are a bit frumpy.....lol :)
They aren't photogenic, it happens, but the plate is !
Yes Karen, very funny.....and a laugh was very welcome today:-)
I don't have anything against middle aged men by the way, they just aren't cherubic!
Thanks guys....it's amusing me...
BEAUTIFUL!!!
What's the story behind the change/no change of your profile picture? Please tell, I'm intrigued:-)
Just bored of being petulant Peggy and wanted to be precious instead!
This is another girl picture from Yoshitomo Nara.
Thank you, Karen, I've googled Yoshitomo Nara and his work is mind blowing! Full marks for sussing that I'd no idea of the origins of your profile picture!
Karen they are Beatiful What is Hoya?
Thanks for the love Kivantitz.
Hoya Crystal was a Japanese cut crystal company that stopped production in 2009.
The company Hoya still exists but they now concentrate on their vision and technical lenses.
There is a fair amount of Hoya crystal glasses and plates around but their high end works are harder to find.
thanks a lot Karen. I did not know nothing
