I saw this brooch for sale and just had to have it. A glorious citrine stone with enamelled grapes in purple and green colours. Italian made circa art nouveau period...plan on researching the jeweller a little more as it comes with the original hand made cardboard jewellery box. Just very sweet...the photos are very dull so will replace tomorrow...

Hi there and thank you for all the loves. I've now added two extra photos, one clearer of the Citrine and one with the clasp. It's a really hard brooch to photograph.

Jewels1900 I think it's Italian for many reasons but mainly because an Italian jeweller who's name appears with address on the box, usually they made and sold their own in those provincial areas. Plus a Critrine emits everythingbItalian from my time there. Also with the grapes and the leaves intimating their wine, it just speaks Italian to me.

I have no issue with it being German, half my loungeroom is filled with German glass but I genuinely believe it Italian. Maybe you could send me photos of the German ones you speak of?

Thanks Fran, glad you like it!
Thank you to everyone else :) . It really is a beautiful brooch for me to wear.

I can't wear necklaces anymore due to the Cancer playing havoc with my neck nodes so I thought next best thing is brooches and I've found so many lovely ones...

I was just wondering about the info on the box :
      Bijouterie
      F.lli Ubaldo
      Bordighera
      ........
      Varazze.

Just wondering what that other town was?

There's a Fabiola Ubaldo who still runs a jewellery store in Varazze.

What do you think of it Kev, do you like it?

I think Fabiola might be a woman by the way. I really do like it. Chunky.
