These items were a gift from the fabulous Aunt Muriel prior to her death and I have always been happy to have them.
However in the last little while, as my interest in Japanese products has increased, I have often looked at them and wondered.
I can find very little information on Terano Art Ware, and it appears to be more a sales name than anything. The green vase has a stamped mark on the bottom but I am having a lot of difficulty making it out, even with aids.
The sake bottle is unmarked on the bottom, but is made from the same very dark clay as the vase.
They are both very different from each other in form and glaze.
The green glaze has been thickly applied over a wax resist pattern, and it has been hand painted with black glaze on the neck.
The sake bottle glaze is black with the coloured random strokes, and is incredibly glossy. Sorry the photo is so dark, I had a lot of trouble getting light onto it.
If anyone has any information on Terano, I would be very grateful!
I love this colour & shape ;-))
stunning!!!
This is very nice. The color is great and the design too.
Thanks SD, Sean and Elisabeth.
The green is my favorite too, it has a very mod but Japanese look!
Love the colors, womderful design as well.
Shape seems to influenced by the shoji hamada bottle vases

Great colour and shape....:-)
Thanks GTMOOM. I did not know of Hamada - what an artist! Certainly this bottle has been influenced by his work.
Thanks too Inky - it is a good one!
Don't you just love finding out what you've been holding onto for a period of time without really knowing what it was. You've got a couple nice pieces there and it looks like we may just be seeing more from you after I took a peek at that link ;)
Oh I love these, but especially the green one, that is really attractive! :)
Thanks Sue - I have lots of stuff (some say too much, waaaay too much) and I forget what there is! It's good to dig them out now and CW has made me much more interested in where, who, why? I will be showing more. :))
Thanks Katherine. I always loved the green which is why Muriel gave it to me.
I'm a lucky girl.
