Happy Easter to all of you! I wish you a nice easter and a wonderful spring to come.

I post some photos of eastereggs all made of sugar! The large one my sister made and the small one I bought. I have kept them for years and love the look of them. Hope you do to. Take care.

      Hi Elisabeth,
I LOVE this kind of sugar eggs, when I was younger I would eat the entire egg even with the "surprise" inside! Hope you will have a wonderful Easter

Thank you Jennie that is so sweet of you! Happy easter to you as well. I have a day off today on my own so I am planting easter flowers and making wreaths to decorate with. I am enjoying myself that is :) I have never eaten one of these since we also have eastereggs with candy to eat. These ones always felt off limits and very magical so we didn't eat them. Maybe I have missed out on something very tasty hi hi ?

Wow. I had forgotten about sugar Easter eggs. <3

      *snip*

Opulent panorama eggs–hollow sugar-shelled eggs containing miniature scenes that can be viewed through a peephole–first appeared in Victorian England, and became popular in US in the 1890s. The eggs are made by packing a sugar mixture into half-egg molds, allowing them to harden for several days, and then scooping out the inside until just a thin shell remains. Victorian-era eggs made use of many kinds of material, including paper, ceramic, fabric, and ribbons. Women frequently made these eggs as Easter treasures to give to friends and family, and they were treasured and handed down as family heirlooms. Modern food laws stipulate that panorama egg makers may use only edible frosting to create the interior scene, so today’s mass produced panorama eggs are less intricate than their predecessors, but several confectioners sell hand-made panorama eggs to order. –S.K.

Thank you keramikos for nice info! Yes I am being a bit victorian here :) admiring and keeping my sugareggs for years. I think I bought the small one or got it as a gift. I am sure it is at least 20 years ago but probably more. The large easter egg my sister made for me a "few" (not so few) years ago. I love it. She is a very talented baker/sugarartist. I save this and bring them out every easter.
