Love the old lighters. My old docktor Frederick Rice was the cap. of the Spirit of Indianapolis a B29 bomber. He knew Paul Tibbet well and had a photo of the Enola Gay signed by Paul tibbet in his office. Here is a link you my like. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ny330bg/crews458.htm

The second bomb was droped by Boxcar

The Enola Gay droped " Little Boy" on Hiroshima. Then Bockscar droped "Fat Man" on Nagasaki.

      Corsair Cigarette Lighter:
I am looking for a military airplane cigarette lighter.
It is an F4U4 Corsair Cigarette Lighter.
The lighter is a miniature copy of the WWII Marine Corps/Navy famous " gull wing fighter." The lighter mechanism is in the canopy and the plane is has about a 9" inch wing span and about a 6" fuselage. The plane has attached wheels. Some also have stands. I have seen seem in both gold and silver. I believe it was made in Japan after the war. I have been trying to run a very good to mint edition of this for quite some time and would appreciate any help or leads.

      I collect these, also.
Have you run across any USN themed Ronsons or Colibris?

Great Post, and tell ya why i think so. I joined the army in 1968, and did basic and Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Ord CA. I was 17-1/2 and did not smoke allot, until i arrived at Ord, and then things changed. When ever a class was over, the DI's would say "SMOKE-UM-IF YOU GOTUM, and BUMM-EM IF YOU DON'T". So, you had to basically learn to smoke because of peer pressure. So, after basic, you treasured certain things, and the top 2 for me, were smokes, and a Bitchen Zippo Lighter. By the way, i know some will remember that smokes were 17 cents a pack in Vietnam, not counting what was in your C rats, and care packages. Again, Great Post, that brings back good memories. HEY, Can I BUM A SMOKE FROM YOU ?????????

PS: I was with both the Bird in the States, and the Herd, in Vietnam
