Acquired a few months back - I just took a chance on this interesting little vase. It was single figure cheap! I did not know anything about it at all. But I suppose when you have been collecting and studying Art Nouveau vases for enough, you just get a second sense about some things. And that is what it was. When it arrived I was shocked to see a seam in the glass on both sides, cheap I thought - the photograph online did not appear to show this.
I put it on a shelf and forgot about it. Then while researching something else I came across a vase similar - it was a Dugan vase. Probably more recognisable to our US friends than collectors here in the UK. So probably something of a rare find here in Europe. I liked this vase when I bought, was a bit upset when I got it in my hands, but now I like it even more than I did when I first laid my eyes on it. Needless to say, I will not rattle on about Dugan art glass here - people can do their own research - but clearly for anyone interested in this period, a piece of Dugan should perhaps find room for a space on a collector's shelf!
I agree it is amazing - I'm very glad I have this piece of 'common man's Tiffany!'
It is actually quite beautiful in it's simplicity of design and a great colour!
Love the colour....:-)
