Chalet is not seen much here in Oz which is fortunate because after seeing all of your posts recently I would be hunting!
They are fabulaous.
I love this Artglass! The shape and colors are ...WOW!
Thanks racer4four and Rick55.....
I think that ones called a splash. And it's a nice one. There is a lot of it around where I live, and one of the most expensive art glass's to purchase. I've never seen a single piece hit that basement bargain price. This is one of the nicest I've ever seen a piece with these 2 colours involved, The colours are not as dark and rich, as I have noted in my travels viewing Chalet glass. It appears unique to me.
I think the darker coloured Chalets are just being put to market around here for reasons unknown. I talked to one antique dealer that said he just bought 100 pieces on the open market. He's got them all over his shop as many antique dealers suddenly do. Did Chalet clear out their warehouse or something?
Once again, it's flooded with them averaging $100-200 for many table setting center pieces.
I'm actually going to take other pictures of this piece......these pictures don't show how bright it actually is...the pictures don't do it any justice.... Thanks for comments.
Collectomaniac.... I believe that Chalet glass actually stopped producing pieces around 1986.The uranium pieces are lighter but under natural light, they are quite bright.
They also glow under a black light. I have a post showing a Chalet uranium handkerchief vase of mine in a bright light. I will have to start taking pictures of uranium glass under the black light. Cheers
@ Collectomaniac - Welcome my Canuck Friend, EH? See you just joined you probably have not had much time to look at some older posts here of Chalet Glass. Here are some examples of mine also. People are collecting this Canadian Glass -- as everything that goes around -- comes around again!! People are just into (collect) what they rememeber. Plus Deborah P. has did a show and written some amazing books on Chalet Glass. She has helped bringing Chalet Glass (along with other sites ...and even CW here) the styles of Chalet Glass
