I purchased this lamp at a charity shop several years ago. I've searched the internet but have never seen another one. It has four panels, each with a different woman. I can only assume that these are perhaps famous women in history?? It stands 12" without the chimney. It's a lovely lamp and I would like to know more about it, i.e., age of lamp, who these women are, etc. Any info would be welcomed and very much appreciated. Thanks!
I'm still hoping someone out there can give me some info about this lamp. Are the women historically significant? The age of the lamp? It is marked BANNER.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have one with same four women. The background in the picture helps you identify the women. Dolly Madison, Betsy Ross, Abigail Adams and Pocahontas I believe. My lamp does not have the green around it. It belonged to my great Grandmother. Not sure of age. Do not know about BANNER. Would make a nice match to mine.
Hello,
I was thinking that the one with the Liberty Bell in the background could be Martha Washington but I guess Betsy Ross makes sense. Thank You for the info on these "famous women". Maybe somebody will answer my query as to the age of this lamp. Thanks again!
"Banner" was a Brand Name for oil lamp burners introduced by the Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Company of Waterbury Conn. and even if it is on this lamp now, may not have been when this lamp was sold. I may have info. on the 4 Ladies/ 4 Season's lamp but I'm still going through my years of documents to see if I can find it. Will let you know. RER(BOB)
I appreciate your taking the time to find out more info on this lamp. Thanks!
