A welcome addition to my collection is this absolutely sunning Harrach Atlas Glass vase .
My photos could never do it justice , the satin glass surface has an iridescent sheen .
Milk glass inner layer is covered in a green glass layer that is deeper at the top and and shades to almost clear at the base in between this is an air trapped layer of circular bubbles that have been stretched towards the top when the glass has been hand shaped . .
An added bonus is that there is stamp on the polished pontil the Harrach three feather mark .
Gorgeously hand painted and gilt! with floral sprays ...
At 11 " tall and 6 3/4 " in diameter it has a presence all on it's own .
Together with my good friend inky's example it does prove that Harrach made it to the bottom of the world .

Hi oz it's a beauty I truly love it was thinking about you not long ago how's the weather down there good I hope
Super piece Marty!! Victorian green colored air-trap / atlas glass is relatively rare.
I have a matching pair that I acquired separately, one is cranberry glass and the other is apricot colored, but identical in shape and decor as yours :)
Project_Harrach we are indeed lucky people to be custodians of such lovely glass as this .. perhaps we should post yours mine and Inky's in one post?? now that would be a dazzler!
This beautiful piece of glass reminds me of a turtle crossed with a jellyfish that got lost in a Japanese garden. Well that's how I see It.:-)
Ha, I'm afraid that's fairly close to where I live with these things. It's lost on me, for the most part. Certainly interesting to follow these threads and read the discussions, though! :)
Hi the fashionstudio can I have some of what your on :) ... been ages .......
I love it ... such a psychedelic description..that .
Hi Katherinescollection beauty is in the eye of the beholder ..
I see all the amazing skill / craft and art that goes into such pieces .and when one holds and beholds such gems as this one feels honoured to do so ..
Marty I'll try to get a photo tonight .... would definitely be great to see a variety of colors of the same design.
Triffic!
Hi Project Harrach did you ever take that photo?? :)
That green, I have seen very few examples of such! It reminds me of a deep beautiful forest green towards the top.
Each time I see it it looks priettier....
Hi Kivatnitz it does that to me too !
there are a few pieces that catch my eye when i walk past my main display case .. this is one of them .. and I feel so lucky to have them for just a short part of their life . I can imaging the joy that they have and will bring others..
Marty I got a photo of the pair of I have. They are actually a bit different, no doubt Harrach atlas glass, but the decor is different, and the top is crimped a bit differently. The two I have match each other perfectly, although they were acquired years apart. How can I get a photo to you? If you're on the Bohemian glass (1750-1940) discussion group Facebook forum, I can post it there.
Hi Project_Harrach I Have just posted an image of yours on here if not OK I will remove .
Marty please feel free to post a photo of mine :)
