Well, there really was an "original", so you should be able to inspect it and tell if it has any "vintage" feel to it...

"Gee, Uncle Sky !" "Well Penny, I'm going up in the Songbird and have a look around ". Oh, the memories, lol.
coolest trike ive ever seen.
They are even being distributed through Wally-World as "collectibles"! Worth looking into though, apparently the originals can go for $3000 !
I guess the big give away would be plastic. There should not be any plastic on it. I found a repro of the peddle fire truck at the thrift store. Hard as heck to tell, until I got to the rims, and they were a hard plastic. I hope it's a real one!
Looks very plastic to me...
I've seen similar models like yours on e-bay..."all metal"...the only difference is the seat was molded into the body...It should be all metal, including the rims but of course the tires should be hard solid rubber...nice ride!
yes the seat throws off the whole bike its not the right seat for sure
I believe what you have is a contempory air flow tricycle thats been left out in the weather. Google "Sky King Tricycle" and you will see what I am talking about.
check the bolt that holds the front fender. im sure you will find that its metric. also the sticker on the fender just don't look right as well as the seat. Local boke shop here has an original on display . it has a plain seat and theres no dark red around the white on the sticker. also the bolt that holds the fender to the front fork is painted red like the rest of the trike. The one they display has not been restored so it's not a repaint mistake

That's the real deal, I have one in the shop, probably Grandpa cowboy-ed up the seat for his pride and joy grandchild. Nice find, and I'll probably never find another, and you need hand grips like I do.
Enjoy this magical piece of history.

I'm not an expert like Jayson so I went to the experts and I think you will find it helpful :http://www.tricyclefetish.com/junior_toy_co.php.
Enjoy the search, it's all about the chase !
I live in England and have an original all metal one left by one of your Air Force Chaps. Unfortunately the Head light is missing, can anyone steer me towards finding a replacement. Regards. Ken Holmes
I agree about the seat - it looks girl where the bike looks (to me) 1950-1960 ish cowboy flyer - thats my memory....
That's the coolest tricycle ever.
